Capri and Amalfi Coast, Italy.
Famously super expensive, we opted to boat around the island of Capri rather than visit. Plus with the kiddos, we were more keen to snorkel and swim than wine and dine. Two young Italian boat captains ferried us from the port in Sorrento, took us to swimming holes and waterfalls.
We saw both the natural beauty and the ridiculous wealth, and even spotted a speedboat parked inside a superyacht (see photos below) while sipping our Prosecco from plastic cups. Which was just fine by us.
Another day traveling down the mountain, we drove a section of the Amalfi Coast through Positano to hike the Path of Lemons (Sentiero dei Lemoni).
Up stone staircases, winding through store and homefronts, the Tyrhennian Sea emerged into view as we ascended, sweating through our clothes, moving from one scrap of shade to another until we found glory: lemon granitas, a frozen, mixed lemon drink using citrus from right outside the door. It was unanimous: the most refreshing drink EVER.
