London, England.
Initially, when we were reminded about the Schengen rules limiting stays in the European Union to 90 days, we thought we’d get to the UK to buy us some time. Our road trip through the Balkans covered those days, but still, we just had to sneak in a weekend trip to London. The Chunnel part was nothing to speak of, but round-trip train tickets were just $276 USD for the four of us. Not bad. Plus, as guests of the inimitable hosts, Matt and Luc, we saved London-priced hotel costs.
With just a few days, we opted for a city bus tour, hitting the major sites in a short time. It was a cool, sunny day with lots of traffic, so the boys slept a good part of it. Surely they’d have been fully engaged under different circumstances.
Meeting up with friends was, of course, the highlight. Steve and Hannah, to whom we were introduced by Matt and stayed with in Nairobi, happened to be in London at the same time. So much fun.
